Waterloo Epoxy Flooring is a concrete coating company based in Waterloo, IA, with more than 20 years of experience installing epoxy, polyaspartic and polished concrete floors. We work in garages and basements, in shops and showrooms, and on plant, warehouse and kitchen floors where the conditions are far harder than any home sees.

Over those years we have seen what makes a floor last and what makes it fail. Most failures start before the first coat goes down, with a slab that was etched instead of ground, never tested for moisture, or coated over cracks and old paint that were already letting go. Our way of working is built around avoiding those mistakes.

Our Approach

Unlabeled pails wheeled across the coated shop floor of a Waterloo epoxy flooring crew, grinders and an extractor parked along the wall.

Every slab we coat is opened with a diamond grinder or a shot blaster, never an acid etch, so the coating has a real profile to grip. Cracks, spalls and old coatings are mapped on the first visit, and if a slab needs repair or replacement before it should be coated, we say so plainly. On garage and basement slabs a moisture test is part of the written scope before the price is final, whatever year the house was built, and in a basement we check the sump pit and floor drain for signs of past water first.

Our proposals name the product line, the number of coats and the finished thickness, so you can hold the finished floor up against the quote. We explain what a coating warranty leaves out before the job is sold, starting with moisture. Cure schedules follow slab temperature and dew point rather than the calendar, which means an unheated garage in a northeast Iowa winter is sometimes told to wait. Grinding dust is captured at the machine instead of being rinsed toward a drain.

We are also clear about what a floor coating is not. It is not waterproofing, and it is never sold as radon work; in Iowa, radon testing and mitigation require a state credential. Low-odor products are offered for attached garages and basements as a comfort choice, not as a legal requirement.

What We Do

We install epoxy garage floors, flake and metallic epoxy floors, polyaspartic coatings, basement floor epoxy and polished concrete for homeowners. For businesses, we handle commercial and industrial epoxy flooring, ESD flooring and commercial kitchen floors, phasing the work around shifts and service hours. Concrete grinding and concrete floor repair support every system we install, and we also offer them on their own. If you have a floor in Waterloo or the surrounding area that needs attention, request a free estimate and we will come and look at the slab before we talk about price.
